Fair call and my guildies who don't play Sin have almost exactly the same reasoning as you which is all good.

Imo after playing every class to lvl 20 it's all about play style and which you enjoy more. After all thats why I play GW.To have fun as opposed to running a class the community is more accepting of.

A common problem with playing or discussing Sin is the community trend to immediately compare them to Warriors or just hate on the class in general which usually ends in:

I'm thankful this thread hasn't been to bad thus far as there should be some form of mutual respect in terms of people being able to discuss the class they enjoy without it being endlessly criticized by those that either dislike it or have differing preferences.

Anyway good thread OP, been a great read thus far.

Well said fireflyry, and thanks for thanks for the kind comment about my post.

Yeah remember guys, this is just for fun and not a contest against which profession is better than the other. It's simply asking why you chose what you did and why you enjoy it. If you don't like the profession someone plays, try not to spam a rant. It's one thing to express an opinion but don't get too carried away with the "warrior vs. sin" thing.

I blame the Afflicted.

Sins definitely aren't bad in the least, it's just that trials they had to face were nearly entirely against their function.

Mage, Wizard, Muse, Elementalist... depending on the game, I seek the same thing: Magic plus AoE

When I came first on Guild Wars, I knew what I wanted, and Elementalist. A friend told me that popular way to PvE with this job was nuking, so I tried it and loved it. For PvE i play always fire as it makes the best damage and has the best AoE and for PvP (yes, I play both) I do a lot of Air builds, but for the PvP portion, I am better with my Dervish. I also like playing with bow and pets, as I came from Ragnarok Online and I was playing Wizard and Hunter over there. I even named my GW characters after my Ragnarok's characters.

For PvP I also love Rangers, because they are (after the assassins), the most annoying job for everybody else, I mean, interrupts, traps, poison, dodge, you name it.

But my heart is with the Elementalist!

I'd have to say dervish.
Balance of magic and warfare? Yes plz.

I like being a jack of all trades, but not totally into the concept of rangers and nature. A little too colourful for me, and there's a lot of them running around (I think they're the most popular mains)

It's too bad they didn't come out sooner though. Warriors were a little too smash-hit-smash-hit etc. for me, and assassins were a little too fragile (back before critical agility and defenses, at least :P)
Warriors too buff. Assassins too skinny. (no offense :P)
Dervish is like the middle ground, which is my favourite.

My previous favourite was paragon, which WAS going to be my main class, but I found their gameplay to be a little too passive for me.

So, dervish ftw. Also love the fact that they worship all gods. Solid background/lore, nice armor design and AL. 4 pips regen, and extra health.
Oh baby.

My ideal profession would be Dervish/Paragon however. Too bad it's not effective. Imagine a holy hooded warrior flinging spears and commanding an army, while slicing/dicing people like lambs.

K yeah I think I'm done now.

It's a pity that they don't farm too well (well, relatively) otherwise I could've creamed my panties all the way to France.

Ranger for me as I can do dmg/degen/interrupts and direct the battle from a good vantage point. Supporting the casters in case anything gets past the front line. 2nd would be my Monk, then my Necro and Mesmer. I actually chose Monk as my first character over 3 years ago and still like playing it to this day. I liked the Challenge of keeping everyone alive.

I'd have to say my ranger. It was the first one I made and I consider it my main char and the one that is most spoiled. I like bows and having a pet is fun. I do have other chars that I enjoy just as much, but my ranger is my fav.

heheheehe - love that.

I don't like being in control of healing. If I die, meh, I'll be back, but I don't want to be the guy responsible for someone else not being healed. Some folks aren't as casual about death as I am.

I have a Necro-Mesmer that I used to really enjoy playing. It's good to have a squad of lackeys do the dirty work. I have been away from the game for a while, so I started from scratch to get my feel back, then I'll get my old characters back up and running.

My new characters are a Ranger/Necro - again, lackeys do the dirty work, and I keep my distance - a Derv/Warrior, who is actually a lot of fun, and a Warrior/Elementalist who has a few good ranged abilities and solid D for melee.

But - I am still learning, and I tend to do what I like, not what is most powerful. Having fun is rule #1, not pwnage.

I started with warrior, just because I'd seen hundreds and hundreds of W/Mo's when I first started, so I thought there must be some awesome feature that came along with them. As you probably know by now, I was very wrong.

I ultimately stuck with my ranger, because that's just sort of how I am in real life. I've never been a charismatic group-leader or anything. I'd much rather just hang out in the back of the group and shoot stuff.

I also just got sick of people refusing to take me seriously as a warrior, but now that I've got my seat on the other side of the fence, I can totally see why they did that.

I came from WoW, where I had a pimped out ranger, and I like the playstyle where you can do big damage and be very self reliant at the same time. I ended up rolling an R/Me because I thought the mesmer interrupts would complement the ranger interrupts. But after getting to Piken Square I realized I was only really using the mesmer skills, and the bow and 3 pips of regen were a hindrance. So I completely rerolled as a mesmer primary and contrary to popular belief, he rocks both PvE and PvP.

I worked my way up to dervish, and I don't feel as much of a connection to any other profession now, but I didn't automatically fall in love with dervs either.

My first toon was a ritualist, which I sucked at because I had never played GW before...so I made a ranger, which couldn't be that much different from rangers in any other game, but that just wasn't as much fun as it could have been.

The oldest toon I still have is an ele and he did everything the hard way...but I don't play him much anymore.

My main for the first year I played was a warrior. I stuck with it because it seemed like henchies worked better with me as the frontliner. I made a derv when nightfall came out, but didn't really get into him until a few months later. I didn't really understand the strong points of the derv until I found out that my armor level was nothing compared to the massive healing of enchantments. Now I have trouble going back to warrior, because I can't stand the low energy. Dervs have no trouble with energy...so I find I'm even having trouble playing some casters now. I got spoiled by mysticism.

Right, well before Guild Wars I always played some sort of healer or support type character but when I came to Guild Wars and looked at the monk class, I really did not like or maybe fully understand how they maintained their energy at a suitable level. So when factions came about and I saw the Ritualist in action, I was amazed at how well they could support a party and maintain decent energy levels without any kind of issue. Not only that, but I also loved how they could play many different roles within a party. From healer to (What was and hopefully soon to be once again) protector, from nuker to summoner. It was really too good to pass up.

And heck, who could pass up a skill like this?

(Excuse the quick MSPAINT job. )
